Today is also: International Tiger Day…

International Tiger Day, also known as Global Tiger Day, is an annual celebration, to raise awareness for tiger conservation. It is observed annually every July 29th. International Tiger Day was created in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit.

The goal of the International Tiger Day is to promote a global system for protecting the natural habitats of tigers and to raise public awareness and support for tiger conservation issues.

The knowledge that there are as few as 3,200 tigers remaining in the wild, will no doubt be as shocking and appalling to those who love and admire these magnificent creatures, as it was to me. And, if we don’t come together now in support of the tiger, they could become completely extinct within five years.

Remember, showing support isn’t always about spending money. It’s also about word-of-mouth in order to raise everyone’s awareness. In today’s world of instant global communication, a simple Facebook share, Twitter tweet or blog posting can go far, especially with re-posts and re-tweets.
