Book Review: ‘Keep Going: From Grief to Growth’ by Aimee DuFresne

Heartfelt and poignant…

Keep Going, From Grief to Growth, Aimee DuFresne

I’ve just finished reading Keep Going: From Grief to Growth by Aimee DuFresne. It’s definitely not my usual reading genre, but I’m happy I picked it up.

In Keep Going: From Grief to Growth, Aimee shares with us a heartbreaking story about the loss of her true soul mate. For any of us who are in a loving and committed relationship, this is a journey we will each have to make at some point. While some of us will be lucky enough to live full lives with our treasured others, some of us (as in the case of Aimee DuFresne) will have their joint journey cut short; suddenly and without warning. If and when this happens, how does one cope with the shock, the loss, and the myriad other feelings that come along?

Celine Dion said it best when she sang: My Heart Will Go On. Yet, how does one get to the point of knowing that his/her heart, and his/her life, will ‘go on?’ While Aimee’s book Keep Going: From Grief to Growth cannot provide readers with these answers, it does showcase one woman’s journey in an attempt to help others understand that while the pain of loss never really goes away it; does become easier to bear.

With that said, Keep Going: From Grief to Growth is a poignant memoir of a beautiful love story. This book connects the reader to the many joys experienced with love, as well as the pain and heartbreak of having to let go and say good bye. Keep Going: From Grief to Growth is a realistic look at the various stages of grief, but at the end of the day, it seems Aimee DuFresne’s intent is to help others cope with their own losses by showing them that life gets better with time, belief, and trust.

In closing, l found Keep Going: From Grief to Growth to be a truly inspiring story, and I feel it is a ‘must read’ for everyone. Maybe by reading Keep Going: From Grief to Growth each of us can see how important it is to show our love and appreciation to those in our lives before they are gone. Before we are left with only memories where they used to be…
